Rainy Day Fun!

A special "picnic" snack on this rainy, sloshy Wednesday :)

Lily writes the words on our word wall during quiet coices. Nice writing, Lil!

T is for Tasmanian Devils! We enjoy a Wild Kratts episode learning all about these noisy little creatures before our letter T sound circle.

Today's sound circle yielded 7 turtles, a t-shirt, some toast, a tiger, Twilight wearing a tiara and a treat on her back (very creative, Eva!), a tiger's eye bracelet and a triceratops! Great work, everyone!

The Letter T!

Today we read Tilly Comes To Tea in our Alphatales book. What a great story to start off our T week. Ask your child about the story. Maybe he/she can tell you about some of the T words they remember.

We came up with a great word list. As it usually does, it will grow through the week as we discover new T words.

S is for Soap, Shredded Paper and Shaving Cream!

S is for Soap! We carve bars of soap on Friday to make a batch of "clean mud."

Next comes the toilet paper :) Whaaaat?!?!?! you ask. We shred toilet paper and add it to our soap flakes. The last step is adding water to this strange concoction.

Voila! Sticky, soapy, slimy "clean mud!"

S is also for Shredded Paper! What a great texture to explore. We add sea animals and pretend they are playing in a snowy wintery wonderland.

Friends experiment with shaving cream, water and food coloring during afternoon choices. Hmmmm...I wonder why that shaving cream floats...maybe your child knows why :)

S is for Science!

Friends experiment with vinegar, baking soda, food coloring and eye droppers during afternoon activities. We hear some great predictions and observations during our exploration.

Friends explore working with magnets and metal screws, nuts, bolts, hooks and clamps. What a great way to learn the properties of metals and magnets. Science sure can be fun!

Jack makes a "magnetic train" and uses some problem solving to figure out how to maneuver it around the corners of the table. Nice work, Jack!

Check out our letter S sound circle from this morning! Great work, everyone!

Valentines, Valentines Everywhere!

We have been VERY busy working on Valentine's Day projects in the classroom.  We are super excited to share our hard work (and love) with our families :)

Our mailboxes are finished and ready to be filled with kind notes from our friends! Tomorrow is our Valentine exchange...hooray!

Letter R Sound Circle!

What a wonderful sound circle we had yesterday! We saw many different objects that started with the letter R including Eva's little brother, Ryan. Thanks for joining us Ryan, Ben and Amber!

We start our Valentine Mailboxes during morning free choice. Thanks for bringing in boxes, everyone!

R is for Robots!

Jack, Kallen and Aatreyu have a blast sledding outside during recess. It's not a lot of snow, but we'll certainly take it.

R is for Robot! Friends work on the beginning stages of our classroom robot project. We will be putting the finishing touches on our robot this afternoon! Keep a look out for this awesome guy!

Our daily reflection on Tuesday was "If you were a robot, what would you look like?" Friends loved drawing themselves as robots and telling us all about their robotic ways.
