Our First Bike Day!

Eloise's big sister, Ruthie, joined us yesterday afternoon for a little story time. Awesome job, Ruthie...thanks for reading to us! Hopefully we can do this on a weekly basis. What a wonderful way to connect our families to the classroom, promote literacy and to praise the hard work of a young reader.

This morning we update our height chart to see how much we've grown in the last two months. Don't forget to check it out on your way out to the playground!

4/5 friends watch the 3/4 class zip around on their bikes while they wait for their turn.

Our first bike day was a great success! It was awesome to see how much physical growth and control these kiddos have gained over the last year. They are definitely the "big kids" now. Ready or not, kindergarten...here they come!

Sensory Play!

Mya, Mason and Nolan write and illustrate their own books during morning free choice. Wow! Now that is kindergarten work right there!

Dinosaur Land!

Laura, Karsyn and Eloise enjoy the water marbles during free choice.

Textures, textures everywhere! We borrow the colored noodles and beans from the 3/4 room to explore a new texture. How fun to pour, scoop and sort!

We loved collecting all of the rain water from today's showers and using it to make all kinds of mud concoctions. There is no finer texture then that of mud!

Outdoor Fun!

Friends use the tee-pee as shelter for their "campfire." Nice teamwork!

Eloise is loving our new playground space!

Mason being silly :)

Mya finds a caterpillar in our garden soil. Hey there, little fella.

We Love Our Playground!

Hooray! We love our new playground space!

Friends find a "wood chip tarantula" today during morning recess. Trust me, it wasn't a tarantula, but it WAS pretty big!

Unfortunately, our pallet garden didn't quite make it. We salvaged the tomato plants that we could and took down the rest today. The good news is that we found a bunch of insects and worms in the soil. Friends were super excited! Next year, we will create a raised garden bed and work on getting a spigot on the outside of the building. I hear that properly watering plants is important :)

Our maintenance and playground crews have been VERY busy this week. Check out our new wood-chipped area and structures! We can't wait for friends to join us out here on Monday! Enjoy the rest of your week :)

Water Slide!

Another amazing day at Maple Street Pool! Today we used the water slide! Ask your kiddo what his/her favorite part of swim time was!
