Our Fantastic First Day!

Theo and Reese get cozy in the Reading area today at Quiet Choices.

Declan works with the nesting dolls during Free Choice. Awesome work stacking those up, Declan!

Friends work on making their placemats today. These placemats will help us set up for snack and lunch and allow us to learn our friend's names.

A large part of building our classroom community is based on the book "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?" It is a fantastic book that explains how we can fill each other's buckets (invisible buckets that hold our good feelings and thoughts about ourselves) by saying and doing kind things for one another.

Ask your child what he/she learned from our read aloud today!

Colton practices his name...awesome job!

We were all so busy during Free Choice...check out all those smiling faces!

Declan hangs out on the tire for a bit during morning recess :)

Poppy and Reese P. wear the same dress on their first day of school! How cool!

We love playing in the rain! Hooray for water play!

Who's up for a tire race?

Ms. Nikki plays a book on CD during lunch. What a great way to relax and recharge after a fun recess!

Picture Alphabets!

Mya writes the entire alphabet (with a corresponding picture that begins with each letter) during morning free choice. We recognize her hard work during morning meeting and before you know it, friends are following suit and making their own picture alphabets. Wow! That's kindergarten work right there!

Friday Scientists!

Today during morning free choice we work on a beautiful and delicious science experiment with skittles. Friends work together to create a rainbow pattern around the edge of a plate and then we add hot water just to the edge of the  skittles. Viola! Time to watch the magic! Friends hypothesized what exactly was happening by saying things like, "The water is melting the skittles!" and "I think the water makes the paint come off." Such a fun experiment...way to go, Scientists!

A Visit with 802 Reptiles!

We had a fantastic time with Kevin from 802 Reptiles this morning! It was an amazing presentation with lots of great information and a lot of time handling and exploring the different kinds of snakes and lizards. So cool! Ask your child which of the snakes was his/her favorite :)
